Responsible Growth — Building Peachland Without Losing Peachland

Growth is coming to Peachland. The question isn't simply whether we grow — it's how we grow.

I believe good development should strengthen our community, not overwhelm it. New housing can bring young families, seniors looking to downsize, new customers for local businesses and additional investment in our community.

But growth also has to recognize the realities of our infrastructure.

Water capacity, roads, sewer, emergency services, traffic and the cost of maintaining infrastructure all need to be considered when decisions about development are made.

I also believe we need a better mix of housing. Peachland needs options for young families, working people and seniors who want to remain in the community as their housing needs change.

At the same time, approving development is only part of the equation. Residents understandably want to see projects actually move forward and become homes and businesses — not simply remain vacant or serviced land for years.

Municipal government can't control every factor affecting construction. Interest rates, financing, construction costs and market conditions all play a role. But the District can work toward clear processes, reasonable timelines and infrastructure planning that gives good projects an opportunity to succeed.

For me, responsible growth means welcoming investment while making sure Peachland has the infrastructure to support it — and protecting the small-town character that makes people want to live here in the first place.

We can grow without losing what makes Peachland special.
